Q. I am trying to install my T/Config software on my new computer, and am getting a "Runtime Error 200" when I try to install, or run the program. What could be causing this?
A. This is a common issue with newer, faster computer platforms. The current version you are working with does not support speeds faster that 233MHZ. DPS will, at no charge, send you an updated fix for your program. Contact or email DPS Support Department for further assistance.
Q. My WinModem will not respond to my T/Config for DOS software, even though I have it set for the right COM port.
A. Most WinModems are not configured to operate in DOS. WinModems are designed to use resources from your computer, which at most times are not accessible from DOS. Try opening a DOS session from Windows, without shutting down and restarting to DOS. If this is unsuccessful, try using another modem.
Q. I want to upgrade my existing T/Config software. If I install it over my current directory, will all my data file configurations be erased?
A. No. When you configure your software for your alarm points, they are automatically saved in .dat file extensions and .idx file extensions. A fresh software download does not have these files generated yet. If you are in doubt, you may want to copy the .dat and .idx files to a floppy or directory before you attempt to do your upgrade, and then restore them if necessary. Contact DPS Support Department for further assistance.
Q. I am trying to set up Alpha/Numeric paging in my T/Config program. It is asking me for a Pin number. What does this mean?
A. Unlike numeric paging which only requires you to enter in the number of the pager, Alpha Paging requires both a central "Tap Terminal" number and a "Pin" number. The Tap Terminal number can usually be obtained from your pager company, and the Pin number will be the phone number of the actual pager, which will be receiving the pages. DPS will assist you, if you are unable to retrieve a Tap Terminal number for your pager.
Q. Protection Switch Errors
A. If you have a high data error rate when polling through a DPS Protection Switch, check the usage for other ports installed on the same 600/602 controller card. The controller may be overloaded if TRremote is using the same card as the Protection Switch. Simply move one or the other to a different card.
Q. What is the maximum contact closure wire length?
A. DPS has tested 26-guage solid-core wire up to 1 mile.
Q. Why can't I receive alpha pages on my cell phone?
A. Alpha pages & text messages are not the same. Sometimes alpha pages are a separate service or not available. Check with your wireless carrier.
Q. What should I do if I'm not seeing alarms from an RTU, but I'm polling it correctly?
A. 1) Check alarm qualification timers 2) Check alarm silencing 3) Check alarm tagging
